The Park, Flora & Fauna
The park probably assumed its present general appearance in the 19th century. Some of the more recent owners planted trees and repaired boundary walls. A lawn appears in front of the house, with various pathways, flower beds, ornamental bushes etc. in all the pictures from the inter-war years. Much of the land which formerly belonged to the chateau, including that surrounding the park, was taken over by others or sold during the 20th century. For example the area to the east now occupied by commune’s football pitch, community hall and public camp site was divided off at some point. There is said to have been a northern entrance opposite the cemetery, leading to the chateau via a tree-lined drive across fields which used to belong to it, north of the present park: but there is no trace of them now.
